The rootstock was selected by specialists at the French National Institute for Agricultural Research. It is a semi-dwarf form intended for grafting plum, peach, nectarine, and apricot varieties. It is propagated by seeds.

When using this rootstock, abundant flowering and reliable yields of grafted varieties are observed. The agronomic characteristics of the Saint-Julien series rootstocks suggest good compatibility with stone fruits, however, their response to soil type can vary; in particular, they may tolerate heavy, waterlogged soils poorly.
