The variety belongs to the historical Damson plum group and is intended for fresh consumption, as well as for the preparation of jams and preserves. The fruit ripening period falls between the end of July and the end of August.
The fruits are of medium or small size, with yellow or dark skin with bloom, and juicy, sweet yellow flesh. The trees are distinguished by rusticity and resistance to common fruit crop diseases.
Due to the historical application of the name «Damaschina» to a wide group of varieties, variations in the description of fruit appearance may occur. The variety is self-fertile; upon overripening, the fruit flesh may become mealy.
