Dalmassin represent a group of traditional plum ecotypes belonging to the subspecies subsp. insititia. The trees are characterized by high growth vigor, the ability to produce abundant root suckers, high frost resistance, and the ability to adapt to various soils at altitudes of up to 1200 meters.

Fruit ripening occurs in July. The fruits are small, oval-shaped, weighing about 10-15 g, with an intense waxy bloom and coloration ranging from yellow to blue-violet. The flesh is light yellow, sweet, and separates well from the pit; however, the fruits are delicate and unsuitable for long-term storage.

The varieties of the group are resistant to drought, diseases, and pests. Due to the physiological characteristic of mature fruits to shed, they are traditionally harvested from the ground. They are mainly used for fresh consumption and local culinary purposes.
