This object is a vegetatively propagated hybrid rootstock obtained from the crossing of Prunus besseyi and Prunus cerasifera. It possesses dwarfing properties and effectively restricts the growth of the grafted tree, which allows for training the canopy into a fan shape or small pyramids.
The rootstock is distinguished by its drought tolerance, tolerance to lime in the soil, and winter hardiness; however, it is characterized by a tendency to produce root suckers. Literature contains reports of potential compatibility issues between the scion and this rootstock, which may lead to tree mortality.
The use of the rootstock contributes to earlier fruit ripening (by 4–5 days). Research results regarding yield and the effect on fruit quality are contradictory, and the final indicators depend on the characteristics of the grafted variety.
