The variety «Kullamaa suur» is the result of folk selection and has been maintained in the Polli Horticultural Research Centre collection since 1947. Genetically, the variety is characterized by a chromosome number of 2n = 48.
The fruits are nearly round in shape and dark red in color with a purple or brownish tint, covered with a heavy waxy bloom. The stone is partially clinging to the flesh. The fruits are prone to dropping upon ripening.
The variety belongs to genetic resources and is not a commercial one. Its cultivation is supported within the framework of programs for the conservation of local plant varieties in Estonia.
