The term is used to describe primitive forms of plums that are classified as Prunus domestica ssp. insititia. Plants of this type are trees with very small fruits of various colors, which may externally resemble blackthorn.
This group of plants does not have standardized characteristics regarding height or disease resistance, as it is not a product of breeding. Historically, these fruits were used in local household production for making purees and mousses, however, due to their small size, they have no commercial value.
