The tree has medium vigor, reaching a height of 3 to 10 meters, and forms a dense crown of pyramidal or broad-pyramidal shape. The leaves are oval, often with a serrated edge; in some forms, pubescence occurs on the underside.
The fruits are dark blue with a waxy bloom and are egg-shaped. The variety is characterized by a high sugar content and a pronounced aroma. Fruiting is late, occurring in late August or September.
The variety is self-fertile, but it is very sensitive to the plum pox virus, which requires the use of only healthy planting material. The term is often used as a collective name for a group of varieties of the 'Požegača' or 'Bistrica' type.
