ActivePrunus domestica L. · European plum
Walter Hartmann c/o Universität Hohenheim
10 August 2026
The variety is of unknown origin and formed as a result of centuries of folk selection, becoming widespread in the Balkans, Hungary, Austria, and Germany. Tree fruiting begins in the 4th year after planting.
The fruits are small or medium-sized (up to 17–20 g), egg-shaped, and dark blue with a waxy bloom. The flesh is sweet, aromatic, with a good balance of sugars and acids, and the stone separates easily. The variety is late-maturing: ripening occurs from the end of August to the end of September, depending on the altitude of cultivation.
The main drawback of the variety is its high susceptibility to Plum pox virus, which limits its use on an industrial scale.
