The variety is an ancient local seedling that has historically grown in the territory from Gargano to Salento. In botanical publications, it is classified as a variety of cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera), although in general catalogs it is presented as a traditional Italian plum.
The tree is capable of reaching large sizes, especially when grafted onto blackthorn or almond. The fruits have a spheroidal symmetrical shape with a rounded apex, green-yellow skin with a waxy bloom, thin skin with lenticels, a visible suture line, and a short pedicel.
The variety belongs to the category of rare ancient fruits. Historically, it was used in households for drying and preserving.
