The rootstock was obtained through selection from a free population of types and varieties of the genus Prunus. Botanically, the plant is classified as Prunus domestica subsp. insititia.
Plants on this rootstock are characterized by very weak growth and form a rounded or umbrella-shaped crown of medium density, approximately 2.5 meters. The rootstock has good compatibility with modern plum varieties and ensures the onset of fruiting in the third year after planting.
The use of the rootstock is recommended for regions with a cool climate, as well as for sites with moist and heavy soils. S-BO-1 is not intended for the production of commercial fruit, as the fruits it produces are small.
