The variety is of Spanish origin and belongs to the traditional local varieties of the crop. Trees are distinguished by a very early flowering period and very late fruit ripening dates. Due to the overlapping flowering periods, the variety is often used as a pollinator for other almond varieties, in particular the Marcona variety.
