PERE XINA is a traditional local variety of common almond, adapted to the conditions of Mallorca. The variety is not the result of modern breeding and is maintained in germplasm banks as valuable genetic material.
During studies, the variety demonstrated resistance to infection by the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa, showing one of the lowest degrees of infection among the studied samples. At the moment, the variety is used in collections to study genetic diversity, phenology, and yield.
