The pear variety Aida (sometimes referred to as Aidapvr) is the result of a breeding program launched in 1968 and completed in 2003. The main goals of the breeding were to expand the harvest calendar, improve fruit quality, and increase disease resistance.
The medium-sized fruits have a pear shape. The primary skin color is yellow-green with a red blush covering 30–35% of the surface. The flesh is white, characterized by a fine, crispy texture, pleasant taste, and aroma. Harvesting is carried out at the end of August.
The variety possesses good resistance to fire blight (Erwinia amylovora).
