The variety is classified as an autochthonous Portuguese pear variety and is a subject of research within programs for the study of local phytogenetic resources.

During scientific trials, the variety showed medium to high susceptibility to fire blight (Erwinia amylovora). Detailed morphological characteristics of the plant and qualitative indicators of the fruit are not described in the literature.
