The variety is a traditional regional crop, which is under study and conservation by the National Institute for Agricultural and Veterinary Research of Portugal. There is a possibility of identifying the variety under the name Coxa de Freira, which requires further clarification of the material.
The fruits of the variety are characterized by high sweetness with a total soluble solids content of about 17 ºBrix. The composition is rich in fructose, phenolic compounds, and flavonoids found in the pulp, skin, and seeds.
