The tree is vigorous, forms an upright crown, and is noted for good compatibility with quince rootstock. The variety belongs to the early summer maturity group, ripening approximately 26 days before the Williams variety. Consistent high productivity is noted, although it may vary in the northern and central regions of Italy. The plant shows a susceptibility to scab.
The fruits have an elongated pear shape and are medium to small in size. The surface is smooth and turns a saturated yellow color with a light blush upon ripening. The flesh is cream-white and characterized by a fine texture, juiciness, and aroma. The fruits are consumed mainly fresh and are also used for preparing desserts and jams.
The variety has the synonyms Coscia di Firenze, San Cristoforo, and Ercolini. For cross-pollination, the varieties Passa Crassana, Bella di Giugno, and Spadona are recommended.
