The variety was bred in Romania, presumably in the vicinity of the city of Cluj. It is a natural hybrid of a wild pear and one of the summer varieties. The tree is characterized by moderate vigor.

The fruits belong to winter varieties, with the harvest period falling in the interval from September 25 to October 5. The variety is being studied within the framework of breeding work on resistance to fungal diseases, such as septoria leaf spot.
