Della Trebbiatura belongs to autochthonous landraces that formed naturally without the involvement of modern industrial breeding. In the Italian tradition, the variety name is associated with the period of grain threshing agricultural work, which may indirectly indicate summer fruit ripening dates.

In scientific studies, the variety is considered as genetic material for the study of the phylogenetic history of the European pear and is mentioned as part of collections of old Italian varieties. The variety has no data on morphological indicators or disease resistance described in agronomic reference books.
