The variety is an ancient local variety that has been preserved through the practice of farm propagation and the exchange of genetic material. It is not a product of modern breeding, but rather represents a part of the cultural heritage of the island of Madeira.
Fruits of the Do Santo variety are used for fresh consumption and are also used in blends for the production of Madeira cider. Official data on agronomic characteristics, morphological traits of the tree and fruits, and disease resistance are absent.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
