The variety was developed at a research station in Ontario as part of breeding programs to create disease-resistant varieties. In literature, the variety is found under the names Harvest Queen and Harwest Queen.
Fruits of the variety are small in size. In comparative yield studies, the variety shows results lower than the Conference or Harrow Sweet varieties. The main value of the variety lies in its resistance to fire blight.
