The variety was obtained by propagating cuttings from a seedling of the Passe Crassane pear. The fruits ripen in the winter period, in December–January.
The fruits are large, of regular ovoid shape. The skin surface is smooth, bronze-colored with a copper tint on the sunny side. The flesh is fine, juicy and sweet, devoid of acidity.
The variety is considered unsuitable for modern commerce due to the poor transportability of the fruits. At present, it is rare and is of interest to collectors of heirloom varieties.
