The variety is the subject of genetic research and certification using microsatellite markers (SSR). In the course of work on the study of genetic diversity in the collection of the Centre for Agricultural Research in Mabegondo (CIAM), several clones (genotypes) of this variety were identified.

Tenreiras does not belong to commercial varieties of global significance. The variety is not included in the main industrial pear groups, which confirms its uniqueness as local genetic material traditionally used in regional gardening.
