The tree is characterized by moderate to vigorous growth and forms a widely branched crown with pendulous branches. The variety is demanding of growing conditions, prefers fertile soils and sheltered warm locations, and is compatible with wild pear and quince rootstocks.

The fruits are small to medium in size, ovate or conical in shape, with smooth, shiny skin of a light yellow or pale lemon shade, often with a red blush. The white, tender flesh has high juiciness and a spicy aroma, though it may become grainy on unfavorable soils.

The variety is classified as an autumn type; the harvest is collected in October. Flowering is early and sensitive to spring frosts. The plant is highly susceptible to scab, which limits its distribution to modern use in private collections and genetic banks.
