The Rhododendron smirnowii «Millennium» variety is a medium-sized evergreen shrub with a compact hemispherical crown. At 10 years of age, it reaches a height of about 1.5 m; mature specimens grow up to 2–3 meters. The leaves are dark green, leathery, and shiny, with silvery-white pubescence on young shoots and a light brown tint on the underside. The funnel-shaped flowers of a light pink shade have a yellow-green spot on the upper petal. The plant is characterized by high winter hardiness and blooms from mid-May to June.
Rhododendron viscosum «Millennium» is a deciduous species that sheds its foliage for the winter. The height of a mature shrub reaches 1.5 meters. The variety is characterized by a later flowering period, which begins in July. The light pink flowers have a pleasant fragrance.
