The plant has dark green shiny leathery leaves. After 10 years of growth, the bush reaches a height and width of about 130 cm, although there are records of more compact forms.
Flowering occurs from late April to May. The flowers are gathered in spherical inflorescences of 14–18 pieces, have a creamy yellow color with a salmon-red border along the edges of the petals, and pink buds.
The variety is winter hardy down to -26°C. It prefers acidic, humic, drained soils and a location in partial shade or shade; it is used as a solitary plant or in group plantings.
