The variety is a winter population rye obtained through selection from a local Carinthian population. The plant is characterized by a long stem and a strong tendency to lodging. The variety is intended primarily for baking purposes and organic farming.
The plant is distinguished by high winter hardiness, which allows it to be grown in difficult climatic conditions, including Alpine regions. The yield of the variety is estimated as low to medium, while the grain possesses high-quality characteristics.
Historically, the variety is known for its resistance to stem rust. Under modern growing conditions, high susceptibility to powdery mildew and strong susceptibility to leaf rust are noted.
