Lemin kesäperuna is not an independent variety, but a regional name for the historical American variety Early Rose. The plant has medium height and abundant flowering with white flowers, and its light green leaves have characteristic anthocyanin coloration on the veins.
The tubers of the variety have a round or oval shape, characterized by light red skin, white flesh, and deep eyes with pronounced eyebrows. The variety is early and ready for harvest 6–8 weeks after planting.
The variety has high susceptibility to Potato virus Y and late blight of leaves and tubers. Due to its high taste qualities, it has become widespread in home gardening in northern countries and is currently preserved in gene banks as cultural heritage.
