Leksands vit belongs to the category of landraces. There are assumptions about its connection to early potato samples imported to Sweden by Jonas Alströmer. The variety is known by a number of synonyms, such as Råneåpotatis, Tågpotatis and Wallin.
Tubers of this variety have white skin, a rounded shape, and are characterized by an uneven, knobby surface. Detailed agronomic characteristics, including maturity group and disease resistance indicators, are not presented in open sources.
