The variety has oblong-oval, often knobby tubers with thick dark purple, almost black skin and semi-deep eyes. The flesh is dark purple, sometimes with a whitish marbled pattern, and retains its color after cooking.
The plant is tall with an upright growth habit and dark green foliage with a purple tint. The variety is classified as late or very late in maturity and is characterized by low yield.
The tubers are notable for a high starch content and good keeping quality. The variety is susceptible to late blight, common scab, potato cyst nematode (Globodera rostochiensis), and potato wart (Synchytrium endobioticum), but is resistant to potato virus X.
