The variety Röd Dala, also known as Rättviks Röd, is an ancient Swedish landrace. It is presumed to originate from potatoes brought into the country in the 1720s and is registered in the Nordic Genetic Resource Center under the identifier NGB3193.
The plant belongs to the almond type of potato, for which an elongated tuber shape with a characteristic stolon-end is typical. The tubers of the variety have thin red skin and shallow eyes. The variety has been preserved in amateur gardening as an object of cultural heritage.
