The variety was obtained as a result of crossing the varieties Maritta and Kameraz. Tubers have an oblong or round shape. During tests, the variety demonstrated high yield, exceeding control indicators for the yield of large tuber fraction.
The plant possesses resistance to potato wart and late blight. In studies on the genetic identification of old potato varieties, cases of possible mislabeling of Thynia and The Baron samples were noted in collections of Great Britain and Ireland.
