The Sweet Sioux hybrid series includes several modifications and belongs to sorghum-sudangrass hybrids, rather than pure sudangrass varieties. The plants are characterized by tall growth, often exceeding 2 meters, and belong to the mid-ripening group.

Modern versions of the hybrid, labeled as BMR, possess a genetic trait in the form of a brown midrib on the leaf, which ensures reduced lignin content, improved digestibility, and high nutritional value. The produce is distinguished by high sugar content and good palatability.

Hybrids of this series are intended for silage production, hay harvesting, use as green fodder, and for grazing. In comparative field trials, the hybrids demonstrate high green mass yield, exceeding the performance of pure-strain sudangrass.
