Bjursele is a landrace variety originating from the province of Västerbotten in Northern Sweden. The plant is a diploid variety and is characterized by adaptation to long daylight hours, which allows it to develop effectively in northern latitudes.

The variety possesses a distinct branched root system and high winter hardiness. It belongs to late-maturing types intended primarily for hay harvesting and livestock grazing. In agrocenoses, the variety combines well with timothy grass, while being susceptible to clover rot.
