The variety is winter-hardy and was obtained as a result of crossing the lines RU 440–6 and Ludwig. The main distinctive feature is the grain pigmentation caused by the presence of a blue aleurone layer, which makes it a subject of research as a source of antioxidant compounds.
The plant belongs to the category of colored wheat suitable for the production of whole-grain products with a high content of biologically active substances. According to studies, the variety shows susceptibility to Fusarium head blight, and the presence of blue grain coloration may be associated with a tendency toward mycotoxin contamination.
