Variety description

10 August 2026

The winter soft wheat variety Aquila was introduced in the late 1970s. In the period from 1977 to 1983, it was widely distributed in agriculture; however, its baking qualities were rated as low, which defined it as a feed variety.

In scientific literature, Aquila is mentioned primarily in the context of genetic research. The main genetic characteristic of the variety is the presence of the Pm5b gene, which provides the plant with resistance to powdery mildew.
