The variety belongs to soft winter wheat forms. In scientific research, it was used for the analysis of genetic variability, in particular when studying plant height, spike length, and vernalization characteristics.
In historical studies, the Baranjka variety is mentioned as an example of European-bred wheat with class III baking properties. The variety was also used as a control object in the analysis of glutenin composition.
