The variety was obtained through hybridization of the Australian varieties Florence and Aurore. It is characterized by early maturity, for which it was called 'three-month wheat', and the ability to form stiff stems.
The plant is distinguished by minimal tillering, which requires denser sowing. The variety was traditionally valued as an 'improving' wheat with excellent baking qualities and was used to increase flour functionality when blended with weaker varieties.
