The variety Hanseat is a winter form of soft wheat. In literature, it is characterized as susceptible to Fusarium head blight, which is why it often acts as a control variety or a model specimen in experimental work dedicated to studying this disease and the accumulation of mycotoxins, in particular deoxynivalenol.
Detailed morphological descriptions, such as plant height or maturity group, are absent in available publications.
