The variety is a carrier of a specific wheat-rye translocation, which serves as a marker for genotype identification. In breeding work, it is valued for its indices of grain number and grain weight per spike, as well as for a high thousand kernel weight. The variety was used as a component for the creation of the variety «Артаплот».
Kryzhynka is characterized as a mid-maturing crop with high plasticity. Lodging resistance depends on cultivation technology: high under normal conditions and medium under intensive ones. The variety possesses complex resistance to powdery mildew, Septoria, and leaf rust, but is susceptible to Fusarium head blight and "black point" seed infection.
