The variety belongs to winter soft wheat. In scientific research, Lyrik is considered within the group of varieties analyzed for protein content and high-molecular-weight glutenins.

The variety is used in phytosanitary monitoring, in particular for assessing the level of yellow rust infection in the absence of fungicidal protection. It has also been used in experimental work on studying the effect of mutagens on the adaptive capacities of winter wheat genotypes.
