The variety was developed at the Agricultural Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Martonvásár using breeding material from Odesa to improve winter hardiness. Genetically, the variety belongs to winter forms of durum wheat.
The plant is mid-early and possesses good tillering and regeneration capacity. The winter hardiness of the variety is characterized as frost-resistant, comparable to winter barley, however, the variety may be susceptible to lodging. Gluten quality is rated as below average.
The variety is intended for cultivation in winter climate conditions and for use as raw material for pasta production.
