The Mv Emma variety was created in Martonvásár, Hungary. In scientific research, it is used for mapping leaf rust resistance genes (Lr genes) and studying the effect of CO2 levels on phytopathological processes.

The plant does not carry the 1RS.1BL genetic marker. In physiological experiments, the variety shows increased sensitivity to drought conditions compared to a number of other wheat varieties.
