The Mv Hombar variety is a winter form of soft wheat. In scientific literature, it is classified as a valuable genetic resource used primarily for breeding work to improve the confectionery properties of the grain.

The plant possesses a soft-grain type of endosperm and serves as a reference sample when studying grain hardness and biscuit-making parameters. The variety contains a specific resistance gene to the powdery mildew Blumeria graminis, which has received the scientific designation PmHo and is localized on chromosome 2AL.
