The Yaniv variety was created as a result of a breeding program that included the use of CIMMYT genetic resources. In trials, the variety demonstrated a yield 6–8% higher than that of Dariel-type varieties and other experimental lines.
Under conditions of excess moisture, the variety showed a decrease in grain protein content, which negatively affected its technological qualities for the milling and baking industry. The grain quality level for this variety was closely linked to the applied agricultural practices and external factors.
