The variety AF Zora is characterized by a black grain color, which is caused by a combination of purple pericarp and blue aleurone layer genes. The presence of pigments in the pericarp may contribute to limiting the development of Fusarium.
Under experimental conditions, the variety demonstrates sensitivity to moisture deficit, which is expressed in chlorophyll degradation and a significant reduction in biomass compared to drought-tolerant genotypes. Along with the modern variety, the name «Zora» is found in archival lists of Czechoslovak breeding lines.
