The S. Alberto variety was obtained in Italy at the Applicazioni in Agricoltura (CNEN) laboratory as a result of crossing the Creso variety with line 17.

During scientific tests for infection resistance, this variety demonstrated a high level of resistance to the mixed infection of wheat streak mosaic viruses SBWMV and WSSMV.
