The variety is a local landrace formed as a result of long-term natural and farmer selection and is used as a valuable genetic resource. Externally, the variety is recognizable by the dark color of the glumes.

The grain of the variety is distinguished by high protein and dry gluten content, which makes it suitable for the production of bread and pasta. The variety possesses adaptability to local growing conditions, including resistance to abiotic stresses, such as soil salinity.
