Scavaredda is a tall variety with a plant height of about 130 cm. The maturation period is approximately 125 days from sowing.

The plant forms spikes with black awns and round, shiny grains. The variety is used for the production of semolina and durum wheat flour, and is also considered in the context of organic farming and the preservation of genetic diversity.
