The variety was traditionally cultivated in the area of Agia Paraskevi on the island of Lesbos. It is assumed that it was introduced to Greece from the Saritsam locality near Adana. Currently, the variety is included in the conservation category for genetic diversity and is under the monitoring of the AEGILOPS network.

The plant is adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of the North Aegean islands and demonstrates high suitability for low-input farming. Detailed data on morphology and productivity are absent in open sources.
