The lowbush blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium) cultivar is of Canadian origin. It is characterized by high yield, reaching about 8.4 t/ha in the third year of cultivation, and is considered promising for growing on raised bogs.
The highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) cultivar of Romanian breeding was created with the aim of adaptation to slightly acidic soils, extending the harvest season, and improving fruit quality. Studies show that the fruits of this cultivar are distinguished by one of the lowest indicators of organic acid content, about 0.72%. The Augusta cultivar was also used as a parent form in the breeding of the hybrid cultivar Aino.
